EDWIN CHUNG, Lot of 26 Best Village, was yesterday sentenced to nine months imprisonment, for assault, at Vreed-en-Hoop Court, also on West Coast Demerara.
He pleaded guilty, before Magistrate Nyasha Williams-Hatmin, admitting that, on March 19, at Vreed-en-Hoop he assaulted Taramattie Sookhai, so as to cause her actual bodily harm.
The prisoner was one of two defendants, similarly charged in the same court.
The other, 40-year-old Calvin Liverpool (no address given) pleaded not guilty to unlawfully assaulting Juliet Smith on March 19.
He was granted $15,000 bail and his case has been transferred to Wales Court, West Bank Demerara, for May 27.
