– in aid of life-saving surgery for cast member
MARIA Edwards-Benschop, writer, producer, and sometimes director of the popular comedy show, ‘Nothing to Laugh About’, which has become a calendar event, would be having a holdover of ‘Nothing to Laugh About 4’ Saturday.
Tickets will be on sale from Wednesday at the usual outlets, and the show will begin promptly at 20:00hrs (8pm).
Although there was popular demand for a holdover, Maria was initially hesitant, until the need for life-saving surgery of a cast member proved the deciding factor.
Shelly Bancroft has been part of Maria’s family of actors from the inception. A single-mother with two young children, Shelly developed a heart condition which needs urgent surgery, scheduled for April.
Maria organized a telethon, which raised part of the money, but this was far from sufficient; hence her decision to have a holdover.
Maria’s cast members are loud in her praise, because of the more than fair deals she offers them. She even pays them significant sums for story ideas, and credits them as writers, even though she does the actual writing.
Fans of ‘Nothing to Laugh About’ have expressed their pleasure that the hilarious show that had them practically rolling in the aisles with laughter will once more return to titillate their funny bone, and they have pledged to be supportive of Maria’s efforts once more, especially because it is for a worthy cause.
