BEING a past student of The University of Guyana, I want everyone to know that Freddy Kissoon is not an academic. I took only one class and had to transfer to another lecturer, simply because I was not impressed with his teaching. Freddy needs to know that his work is ‘unfashionable’; it is certainly self-pitying, and above all, it is not going to help anyone. He calls himself an academic. My God, is this the stage academia has reached?  If so, no wonder some of the students graduating from the University of Guyana face so many problems.
If someone makes a very strong statement and does not have facts to prove his argument, that statement definitely is not academically credible.
If he does not have any academic credentials, why do we discuss him; how does someone who has no publication consider himself to be an academic or a scholar?
