THE murder trial of Squince Mc Lennon which was the subject of a long legal battle for the beginning of the trial, began yesterday with a 12-member jury being empanelled, before presiding judge Ms. Dawn Gregory.
Squince Mc Lennon, called ‘Killer’ has pleaded not guilty to a charge accusing him with having, on the 11 June, 2001 in the county of Demerara, murdered Anson Melville called ‘Lepper’.
Leading prosecutor Mrs. Judith Gildharie-Mursalin, in association with lawyer Miss Konyo Sandiford, is expected to begin her case today not with the usual opening address but with a voir-dire (a trial within a trial) instead.
Attorney-at-law, Mr. Basil Williams, is defending.
