Student killed by hit and run vehicle
A SIXTEEN-YEAR-OLD student of Cotton Field Secondary School was killed on the spot in an accident that occurred around 01:0h Thursday morning along La Belle Alliance Public Road,Essequibo Coast.
The teenager was returning home from Mashramani celebrations at Damon Park, Anna Regina.

The victim, Manclik Matthews nicknamed ‘Jimmo’ and two of his friends were cycling home on the dark, wet road when an unidentified motor vehicle struck them.
It is not clear whether all three of them were on one bicycle or riding separate bicycles at the time.
One of the two who survived, Lennox Marks, 22, said the vehicle involved raced away after the impact, leaving them bleeding and lying in pain.
Marks, who also suffered serious injuries quickly pulled Matthews out of the nearby drainage trench but he was lifeless.
The other survivor, 15-year-old Abdool (only name stated) was seriously injured as well and he along Marks shouted cries for help but no one went to their assistance.
However, after they called home on their cellular phones, relatives hurried to the scene with transport and took them to the Suddie Hospital,  where Matthews was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police are investigating the hit and run fatality.
