POPULAR contender in the Mashramani float parade, John Drepaul, known to many as ‘Slingshot,’ yesterday gave President Bharrat Jagdeo a sneak peak of his exuberant mash camp theme for the February 23 Republic Day celebration.

The Head of State took time off from his busy Cabinet meeting to meet the entertainer and songwriter along with his wife Ingrid during a courtesy visit at the Office of the President.
Slingshot said the theme for his 2011 Mash camp is “Tek a Taste and let We Exit,” a concept with an encouraging message for all Guyanese to exercise their constitutional right and vote.

The concept also has lyrics about Slingshot joining the presidential candidacy race.
He gave the Government Information Agency (GINA) an excerpt from his road March song which goes “If you want a funny president, vote Slingshot for President.”
The entertainer said President Jagdeo was elated by the enthusiasm and gave the nod of approval. Copies of his DVD entitled ‘You are not alone’ were also presented to the Head of State.
Some of the DVDs include encouraging words to children of Guyana from high ranking officials about hope, while others showcase Guyana as the best place on earth.
