Reneging robbery victim ordered to pay court costs

A ROBBERY under arms charge, against two men, was dismissed yesterday after the virtual complainant declined to testify. Imran Khan and Simon Mc Allister (no addresses given) appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry and had pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which said, on February 8, being armed, they robbed David Negwa of $5,060.
Police Corporal Venetta Pindar, prosecuting, said the defendants hired the virtual complainant’s motor car for a journey to Plaisance, East Coast Demerara and he took them to a house where no one was at home.
The prosecutor said after Negwa admonished them not to jump over a fence,  they placed a knife and a broken bottle to his neck and took away his money.
But the victim told the Court he does not wish to offer any evidence because he knows both of the defendants and wants to give them a chance.
Negwa was asked to state, from in the witness box, that he was not forced to terminate the matter and when he responded, was ordered to pay $10,000 court costs.
