Christopher Ram unfit to lecture anyone on integrity, morality

The Government of Guyana has noted Christopher Ram’s letter carried in yesterday’s Kaieteur News and Stabroek News, which tried to cast aspersions on recent transactions executed by His Excellency the President. The government wishes to state unequivocally that it considers Mr. Ram to be wholly and totally unfit to lecture anyone, least of all His Excellency, on issues bordering on morality and integrity.

Mr. Ram’s track record on professional integrity is under intense scrutiny as it is alleged that, as the liquidator of Tower Hotel Limited, he took up residence in the hotel, assumed management functions, and took actions that subsequently led to legal action being taken against him. That matter is currently before the courts.

There is at least one other publicly ventilated case in which it is alleged that he attempted to use information that he obtained in his professional duties to try to extort ownership of a particular business from its rightful owners.

In addition, there is a widely held view amongst the business community in Guyana that he allegedly utilises a tactic of bullying to obtain business, his approach being to attack them publicly if they are not his client, and stop attacking them once they are his client.

There are also other publicly available documents on other matters concerning his private life that bring his moral standing into serious question.

In addition, Mr. Ram is a self-confessed co-author of the last PNC/R election manifesto, and was recently nominated as a contender for the PNC/R presidential candidate position in the upcoming general elections. His credentials as a professional or objective commentator are therefore completely thrown out of the window.
The inescapable conclusion is that Mr. Ram is morally and ethically unfit to lecture His Excellency on any matter whatsoever.
