DOCTORS Peter Shiwanand and his wife, Michelle, also members of the Herstelling Assembly of God church, East Bank Demerara, are offering free vocational skills training for school dropout youths. Those who accept the invitation will be trained at Global Outreach Centre Vocational Training Institute, in the church building located at Lot 350-351 Third Street, Herstelling, in Cosmetology, Garment Manufacturing, Home Economics, Electrical Installation, Information Technology (IT) and Office Procedures.
Applicants must be between the ages of 16 and 35 years old and present two references, together with three passport size photographs.
Classes are conducted Monday to Friday from 14:15hrs to 18:30hrs and interested persons can indicate by calling telephone numbers 265-4365, 265-4560 and 613-3905.
Teaching will be done by two teachers per subject and the institution is targeting to enroll 120 students, who will get a stipend for travelling.
A release said the school has been in existence for two years and, at the end of the courses, graduates will receive a recognised certificate from the Ministry of Labour.
