MINISTER of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, Manniram Prashad , on Wednesday told a press conference that this year the prices of chicken, eggs, fuel and commodities may remain stable since the ministry is closely monitoring them. Prashad added that last Christmas prices of chicken and eggs were down compared to previous years as a result of careful monitoring.
He noted that as for gas and diesel prices, which remain under $1,000 per gallon, it was recognized that these may change depending on the world market prices, but there isn’t any increase in transportation fares.
Meanwhile, at the same press conference, the minister said that the arrival statistics show that more tourists visited Guyana last year as compared with the previous year.
He explained that the record will be broken this year because more people are returning to Guyana for vacation because of effective tourism promotion and attractive holiday packages.
