Old Age pensions can be uplifted on Monday – Manickchand

…‘ensure you get $7,500’
Minister of Human Services and Social Security Priya Manickchand said that while Old Age pensions are paid on the first working day of the month, because of the just announced measures which include increased pension rates, payment for February has been delayed by one week.
“The Old Age pension is now $7,500 but pensioners would know that they did not receive a coupon that had that amount on it. It was a blank coupon and the post office could not get that stamped in time. So we had to delay a little bit. Instead of it being paid today, pensioners will now be paid next Monday,” she said.
“We ask each pensioner to present yourself or your duly authorized agent to the post office to receive your $7,500 anytime after Monday. Please ensure that you are paid $7,500, because that is what the government wants you to have,” she said.
The Minister apologized sincerely “for any inconvenience that we may have caused by this delay, but there was very little the Ministry could have done to ensure that the money was paid (at the usual time).”
