A FATHER of five was brutally stabbed to death Saturday morning by his neighbours during an argument over the theft of his two bicycle tyres and the breaking of his fence.
Dead is Shane Andrew Rowley, 32, of 68 ‘A’ Field, Sophia, Greater Georgetown, who collapsed and died in his yard after he was stabbed repeatedly. Rowley was pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Public Hospital after he was rushed there by relatives who had allegedly witnessed his murder at about 10:00hrs Saturday.
A relative, Welton Blucher, told the Guyana Chronicle that Rowley was quarrelling with his neighbours about two bicycle tyres that were stolen, and about his fence, which they would break to pass through his yard.
The man said Rowley was upset and had an ongoing feud with the neighbours for several years, as they were always breaking his fence and taking his things.
Blucher added that shortly after 9:30hrs the row began and then the neighbours, a woman and two of her sons allegedly fell on Rowley, stabbing him several times.
The woman and one of her sons are in police custody while, the other is being hunted by the lawmen.
Meanwhile, Rowley’s reputed wife, Vandetta Carter, 34, told the Guyana Chronicle that she was not there when the incident occurred, as she lived elsewhere in Sophia.
She reported that Rowley and the neighbours have been quarrelling for the past seven years, and they quarrelled often, one of the reasons she moved out of the home.
The grieving woman said that Rowley, a farmer, who also did masonry and carpentry, was upset about the way his neighbours stole his stuff and damaged his fence that separates his plot of land from theirs whenever they wanted to pass through.
Rowley was the father of two children with Carter and also has three others from a previous relationship.
She yesterday begged for justice to be served since Rowley was the sole breadwinner of the home.
