Chief Executive Officer of the Guyana Office for Investment (GO-INVEST), Mr Geoffrey Da Silva, has been appointed the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Guyana to Venezuela. Mr. Da Silva, who is to take up his appointment shortly, succeeds Dr. Odeen Ishmael, CCH, who was also recently appointed as Guyana’s Ambassador to Kuwait.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement yesterday announcing Da Silva’s appointment, said the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela has agreed to the posting.
Prior to heading the GO-INVEST office, Da Silva had served as Minister of Trade, Tourism and Industry; Presidential Advisor on governance and Guyana Consul General in Toronto.
Meanwhile, Ambassador Ishmael and recently appointed High Commissioner to Canada, Harry Narine Nawbatt, are due to take up their posts in those countries at the end of this month, Minister of Foreign Affairs Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett told the Guyana Chronicle recently.
High Commissioner Nawbatt, a former, Housing Minister moves to Canada from his last posting as Guyana’s Ambassador to Brazil. He succeeds the former High Commissioner Rajnarine Singh.
