THE preliminary inquiry (PI) into the charges against the duo accused of murdering Neesa Gopaul was further adjourned yesterday.
Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry granted the request for adjournment, by Prosecutor Assistant Superintendent of Police Robert Tyndall, on the ground that, although two witnesses are present, he could not proceed in the absence of Defence Counsel.
The pre-trial proceedings will resume on January 11.
Yesterday was their fifth Court appearance since Javin Small alias ‘Barry’ and mother of the deceased, Shareema Gopaul were charged and, so far, six witnesses have testified.
The victim, whose body was found in Madewini Creek, in the vicinity of Emerald Tower Resort along the Soesdyke/Linden Highway, was killed between September 24 and October 2, 2010, according to particulars of the offence in the joint charge.
