School girl injured in one of two accidents on Middle Street

One of two accidents on Middle Street in the city yesterday, shortly after noon, resulted in injury to a school girl who had to be rushed to the Woodlands Hospital suffering injuries to the head.

The child, Kimberly Joseph, was injured after the silver- grey car, driven by her father, Elvis Joseph, took a nose dive into a drain on the northern end of the Promenade Play Park, opposite the Promenade Gardens, after being hit by another car.   Kimberly was occupying a seat behind her mother. The two adults were unhurt.

Reports said that Joseph’s car was proceeding south along Waterloo Street when another motor vehicle crashed into it and sent it flying into a drain alongside the road.

When this newspaper arrived at the scene, the other car, badly damaged, was up against a concrete fence outside King’s Jewellery at the corner of Middle and Waterloo Streets.

Both drivers declined to give reports to this newspaper, but the police arrived on the scene soon after and conducted investigations, leading to charges.   The vehicles were soon afterwards towed away.

Meanwhile, just one corner away, and around `13:00hrs, a second accident occurred at the junction of Camp and Middle Streets, outside Christ Church Secondary School.   This collision involved a brand new motor car driven by Nigel Phoenix, and another driven by Theresa Holder.

Holder was proceeding west along Middle Street and Phoenix north along Camp Street when the two vehicles collided and ended up badly damaged on the pavement outside of the school.  Fortunately classes for the afternoon session had just resumed and students were not in the yard and on the pavement at the time.

The police are investigating.
