– placed on $250,000 bail
TAXI driver Melroy Jeffrey, of Annandale, East Coast Demerara, was put on $250,000 bail yesterday, when he appeared before Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus at Cove and John Court, East Coast Demerara, on a causing of death by dangerous driving charge.
He will make his next appearance on February 3, still facing the allegation that he was the driver of HB 7825 that killed pedal cyclist Mark Seebarran.
The victim was towing his wife, Melissa Robinson, of Lusignan, also on East Coast Demerara, when they were struck on the public road and both suffered injuries.
Seebarran was pronounced dead on arrival at Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH), where Robinson was treated and sent away.
Seebarran, 30, of Lot 301 Lusignan West and Robinson, 22, were on their way home about 03:10 hrs on Sunday morning, since when she is unable to stand or walk.
