False pretence, robbery defendants granted bail

ACTING Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday granted truck driver Latchmam Narine $100,000 bail on a charge of obtaining money under false pretence.
The defendant, of Lot 116 ‘BB’ Eccles, East Bank Demerara, pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which alleged that, last December 22, with intent to defraud, he obtained $200,000 from Jairam Samaroo, by falsely pretending that he was in a position to sell him a motor lorry.

The case will be called, again, on January 20, like that of Sean France (no address given), who is charged with committing a robbery on Troy Satroghan.
France was granted $65,000 bail in the same court.
He pleaded not guilty to having, last December 30, robbed the virtual complainant of property valued $61,000.
