Guyana to face tough battle in Group E qualifiers

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC) – Guyana will face a tough clash when they do battle in next month’s Group E qualifiers for the CONCACAF Under-20 Championship. They will come up against Bermuda, the Netherlands Antilles and hosts Suriname in the second-round matches which will run from January 19 to 23 at the Andre Kamperveen Stadium in Paramaribo, Suriname.
Guyana will open their campaign against Bermuda before following up two days later against the hosts and then closing out the tournament with a clash against the Netherlands Antilles on the final day.
All four teams, who finished as runners-up in their respective first-round qualifying groups, will be chasing the last remaining berth for the CONCACAF Championship finals scheduled for Guatemala from April 3 to 17.
The successful side will join automatic North American qualifiers Canada, Mexico and the United States, Central American qualifiers, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama and El Salvador as well as fellow Caribbean qualifiers Cuba, Jamaica, Guadeloupe and Trinidad and Tobago.
Four teams will qualify for the Under-20 World Cup which runs from July 20 to August 20 in Colombia.
