No leads yet in Agricola abduction

POLICE ARE trying to locate the 29-year-old Agricola woman who was abducted by a group of men just outside her Evan Phillips Park home on Thursday night.

The incident reportedly occurred around 20:00hrs, just as the woman, Gail Perreira, arrived at her lower East Bank home in a taxi. Reports are that upon her arrival, a black Raum motor vehicle drove up, and three men, one of whom was carrying a handgun, alighted from it.

The men then held the taxi-driver at gunpoint, ordered him to lie on the ground, then forcibly whisked Perreira away in their vehicle. They also took the taxi-driver’s vehicle with them, the Police say.

After that aspect of the abductors’ mission had been accomplished, a call was placed to the woman’s brother, Roger Perreira, demanding a ransom of $20M in exchange for his sister’s safe return.

The brother duly reported the matter to the Ruimveldt Police Station, and the police have since recovered the taxi-driver’s vehicle on the roadway in front of the West Ruimveldt Primary School, just across the way from Alexander Village.

According to an advertisement aired on the television yesterday, Perreira was last seen wearing a blue jeans and a yellow top.
