ORWIN Joseph (no address given) was yesterday remanded to prison, on a drug trafficking charge, by Acting Chief Magistrate Priya
Sewnarine-Beharry. He pleaded not guilty to having 808 grammes of cannabis (marijuana) in his possession, for the purpose, on December 21.
Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) Special Prosecutor, Oswald Massiah, said ranks raided the home of the defendant, after receiving
certain information and a search there yielded the illegal substance.
A woman, charged with a similar offence, was also refused bail in the same Court.
Nabiola Cox (no address given either) pleaded not guilty, as well, to having trafficked 516 grammes of marijuana, on December 21,
too.
The CANU Prosecutor said her home was also searched and the find was made in her presence, she being the only occupant of the house.
Her case was also transferred to Providence Court, East Bank Demerara, for January 3, 2011.
