KOMALNAUGHT Jagdeo, of Lot 4 Edinburgh, East Bank Berbice, was yesterday fined $7,500 with the alternative of 20 days imprisonment,
for drunk driving. The penalty was imposed by Magistrate Omeyena Hamilton, at New Amsterdam Court, in Berbice, for the offence committed on Strand in
the same town.
Police Corporal Roberto Figueira, prosecuting, said, last December 17, a traffic rank stopped Jagdeo and requested to see his
driver’s licence.
It was on receipt of the booklet that the policeman observed Jagdeo had consumed alcohol and a breathalyser test established that the
consumption was of 197 microgrammes, more than the 35 allowed.
