A collision between a motor car and a minibus on the Grove Public Road on Monday night has left one man dead and another in police custody.
Dead is Clement Seabra, 56, of Buzz Bee Dam, Craig, East Bank Demerara. A father of four, he was a hire car driver operating from the Murray Street base outside the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.
A police report yesterday said that the accident occurred about 23:05hrs. Monday, on the Grove Public Road, as Seabra was driving along the roadway, allegedly moved over into the other lane, colliding with a minibus proceeding in the opposite direction.
Seabra suffered severe injuries and was rushed to the East Bank Regional Hospital at Diamond, but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Meanwhile, Seabra’s brother, Michael, who was shocked and deeply saddened on learning of his sibling’s death, said that around midnight Monday he received a phone call from Clement’s son, informing him that his father had met with an accident and had died.
The dead man had been occupying the lower flat of another brother’s home at Buzz Bee Dam, Craig.
The driver of the minibus is in police custody, assisting with investigations.
