Middle Road Dominoes Club fetes over 150 children

Over 150 children from the La Penitence community were feted Sunday by the Middle Road Dominoes Club – an undertaking that speaks to true community cooperation.
The annual event for the past four years, according to club member Bobby Majeed, was sponsored by the community which supports various events organised by the club.

“We hold fund-raising and our tournaments, as well as games nights, are spaced out; at the last fund-raiser, which was a barbecue, we raised over $73,000,” he said.
Majeed added that the Christmas party is something that the children, especially the underprivileged ones, look forward to.
The excited children were all screams when Santa Claus came in with his sack that promised a surprise to take them through the holidays.
In addition to Santa’s surprise, the children made merry with the foods and drinks.
“We want them to remember this, so we have a bag of goodies for them to take home and then there are prizes for one lucky boy and girl,” Majeed said.
De facto president of the club, Mr. Clinton Kirton, said treating the children in the area is an initiative that stems from true love for children.
