THE driver of a speeding motor car, who escaped from the scene of a fatal accident at Coldingen Access Road, East Coast Demerara, has been arrested and will be charged shortly.
The driver, after he slammed into pedestrian Marva McNabb, 42, of Block 12, Non Pariel, also on the East Coast Demerara, assisted public spirited citizens to place the woman’s body at the side of the road.
An armed security guard who witnessed the accident took the car keys away from the driver and summoned the police.
But before the police arrived, the driver, who apparently had a set of spare keys in his possession, drove off in his vehicle.
He was arrested some time later.
Special Constable 13351, Marva McNabb, was walking along Coldingen Road, on her way home, at about 23:45hrs on Saturday, when she was killed.
She was pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
