CARPENTER Suresh Ramdial, of Nigg Settlement, Corentyne, Berbice, was sentenced to a total of five years imprisonment yesterday, for having a narcotic and a utensil to smoke it. Magistrate Omeyana Hamilton imposed a two-year sentence on him for the possession of one gramme cocaine and another, of three years, for having the utensil but the sentences will run concurrently.
His wife, Sherry, who reported him to the Police, lamented that he is constantly stealing to upkeep his drug habit and would beat her when she rebukes him about his conduct.
On December 15, about 14:30 hrs, she returned home and found him smoking and called Police, at Albion, Corentyne, who found the drug and the utensil concealed in a butter container.
