PREVIOUSLY convicted Bhojnarine Ramkissoon alias  ‘Duck’, 25, of Canefield, East Canje, was, yesterday, remanded to prison, until January 12, after he pleaded not guilty to an illegal drug charge. Before Magistrate Omeyana Hamlinton, at New Amsterdam Court, also in Berbice, he was charged with being in possession of half a gramme of cannabis (marijuana) on December 8.
Police Corporal Roberto Figueira, prosecuting, told the Court that cops, acting on information received, went to a Betsy Ground house in East Canje and found the defendant with the narcotic.
Portions of the prohibited plant were retrieved from a wrapped parcel in one of his Ramkissoon’s pants pockets, the Prosecutor said.
