Two more charged with November 2009 terrorist activities

TWO more men, implicated in the terrorist activities of November last year, appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday, on a series of charges. Basil Morgan and Anthony Watson (no addresses given) were accused of the indictable offences, particulars of which said on:
* November 4, 2009, at Brickdam Police Station, they discharged loaded firearms at Police Constable Carl Mark, with intent to maim, disfigure or cause him grievous bodily harm;
* the same day, at the very place, with intent to commit murder, they shot at Detective Constable Dharmendra Indarpaul;
* the same day and place, with intent to commit murder, they fired at Police Constable Rajendra Singh, and
* also with intent to commit murder, they shot at Clayton Westford;
* November 3 and 4, 2009, at Dora, Soesdyke/Linden Highway, they duct taped the mouth of Shawn Embleton, with intent to murder him;
* the same date and place, they duct taped the mouth of Roopchand Gopaul with intent to kill him;
* the same date and place, too, they murdered Woodette Roberts and
* on November 4, in Georgetown, they set fire to the Supreme Court, a public building.
Unrepresented by counsel, the men were remanded to prison and the discharging loaded firearms and arson cases will be called on December 16 while the others were transferred to Providence Court, on the East Bank Demerara, for January 5.
Previously, on December 2, Colin Jones alias ‘Bunny’ (no address given either), Randy Mars, of Lot 29 West La Penitence and Jafar Simpson, 17, of Lot 30 West Ruimveldt, also in Georgetown, were remanded to prison on similar charges.
