A NEW Water Conservancy Management Board, to be managed by the National Drainage and Irrigation Authority (NDIA) is currently being established in Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam), Regional Chairman, Mr. Alli Baksh announced Wednesday.
He said that body will include officers of the regional administration, farmers and other stakeholders and would be governed by a constitution, a draft of which is already in circulation.
Baksh said the Board will allow farmers the opportunity to be involved in managing the irrigation sector.
Member of Parliament for Region Two, Mr. Parmanand Persaud said the National Assembly previously approved of its establishment and he has since made several suggestions to have the governing rules amended.
