Injured juror halts West Bank Demerara murder trial

Prosecution still hoping to lead fresh evidence
THE prosecution was ready to lead fresh evidence yesterday morning in the West Bank Demerara murder trial involving accused Lakenauth Dial, called Mohan, for the murder of Farzam Khan, when a limping juror who claimed that she could not sit properly, turned up with an X-ray film certifying that she was suffering from an injury.

Judge Winston Patterson allowed her to seek further treatment with the hope that she would be well enough to continue sitting today.
Being a murder case, there must be 12 jurors for the trial to go on.
Legal pundits said it would be a tragedy if for one reason or another, a trial which is at its closing stage has to be aborted.
In the event that the juror is well enough to carry on today, the Prosecution, conducted by Miss Latchmie Rahamat and Ms.Judith Gildharie-Mursalin, will lead fresh evidence through Police Analyst Supt. Stephen Greaves.
