A police constable remains under close arrest in Berbice following the discovery of 17 grammes of cannabis sativa during a sting operation at the home of a cache of arms defendant who is a remanded prisoner and is awaiting trial at the New Amsterdam Court. Reports reveal that sleuths visited the Adelphi, Canje, location where a bag, which the policeman confessed was his, was searched and a quantity of leaves, seeds, and stems, suspected to be portions of the illegal plant cannabis sativa, was unearthed, along with a national identification card belonging to Antonio Singh Balrup.
The 22-year-old, who recently graduated from Felix Austin Training School, at Adventure, Corentyne, was arrested and taken into custody.
Bulrup’s brother, Vivian, was on November 8, 2009, fatally beaten during an outing with friends at the Number 63 beach.
The sibling, then attending the New Amsterdam Multilateral School, had gone to the seashore with friends when he, along with a companion, was attacked.
