THE preliminary inquiry (PI) into the charge against the duo accused of murdering Neesa Gopaul continued yesterday before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Robert Tyndall, prosecuting, called one more witness, Assistant Superintendent Denise Griffith, who is attached to East La Penitence Police Station.
Griffith gave evidence-in-chief and was cross-examined by attorney-at-law Mr. Vic Puran who is representing Shareema Goapaul, mother of the victim.
Senior Counsel Bernard De Santos, for the number one accused, Jarvis Small, declined cross-examination of the witness, stating that her testimony did not relate to his client.
However, the lawyer requested that the witness be available later, declaring that he “smells a rat.”
The pre-trial proceedings were adjourned to December 8 and Small and Gopaul were further remanded to prison.
