Satisfied with government road works in Buxton

THE admission by Region Four REO (Chronicle November 1) that the region’s capital works programme is behind schedule is perhaps a signal that Mr. Gajraj is inclined to be more proactive than his predecessors and wishes to complete outstanding works.
I am aware that approval has been given for a number of roads within the Enmore/Hope NDC to be rehabilitated. However, after nearly two years after that approval, the NDC has only been patching up the roads.
I am of the view that come election year 2011 there will be a flurry of movement to do these roads, but the quality of the work will be very poor. After that it will be hell to have them fixed again.
It would be interesting to see which contractor(s) will be awarded the project. I know that one contractor who has been blacklisted in Region Four for shoddy work has been awarded contracts in Regions Five and Six. This is the nature of things in Guyana. I wonder which regional officials this contractor is in league with!
As a resident of Enmore, I await eagerly for rehabilitation of the approved roads to begin. I must express satisfaction at government’s programme to put in much needed surfaced roads in the Buxton area.
