BK Western Tigers Super 8 Knockout …

Cummings Electrical powers up tournament
ELECTRICAL Consultants and Contractors, Cummings Electrical Company, yesterday threw their support behind the inaugural BK International Western Tigers Football Club-organised Super Eight Knockout Tournament.
A simple presentation ceremony took place in the office of the sponsor whose secretary Dionne Grant handed over a cheque for an undisclosed sum to president of BK International Western Tigers and Attorney-at-Law Gordon Gilhuys.
Managing Director of Cummings Electrical, Michael Cummings, said he always found it a privilege to give back to sports in general, as he saw it as a way of giving back to the communities.
“I am pleased to be associated with this tournament. We at Cummings Electrical have been supporting sports in general over the years, especially football and we are very pleased to be associated with this tournament.
“The sponsorship of any tournament is seen as a means of helping out the youths in the communities and we are willing to support this and any tournament in the future … and with that in mind, we wish to congratulate the organisers for putting together such a wonderful tournament and (we) pledge our support to them in the future.”
Gilhuys said he was happy to have the sponsor on board with the tournament which is not only a fundraising activity for his club, but it also serves as a treat for football fans in Georgetown since no tournament was organised by the Georgetown Football Association (GFA).
“Cummings Electrical has always assisted us in our preparatory programmes from time to time and it certainly is a pleasure to have them on board with us in this venture, as we seek to give football fans in Georgetown a taste of what the GFA’s Super League would have been like,” stated Gilhuys.
The top eight clubs in Georgetown, namely Alpha ‘The Hammer’ United, who have been tasked with showcasing their talent in the first match of the tournament, Pele, Santos, Fruta Conquerors, GDF, Sunburst Camptown, Riddim Squad and BK International Western Tigers will battle for the first prize of $500 000 which is being sponsored by the managing director of BK International, Brian Tiwari.
All matches will be a double-header affair to be played at the Georgetown Football Club ground on November 24, 26 and 28 with the finals being played at the same venue on Sunday December 5.
