BRIDGETOWN, Barbados (CMC) – The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) on Thursday rolled out an itinerary for the next year, highlighting two key women’s tours as it moves to further develop women’s cricket.
As early as January, the West Indies women are expected to tour India and are also expected to host South Africa later in the year.
Details have not been released for the tour of India and the WICB are yet to confirm the Proteas trip to the Caribbean, scheduled for August/September.
The WICB said recently it would be stepping up their development of the women’s game, following the recent announcement that several women’s players would be awarded retainer contracts.
Earlier this month, the side won the Twenty20 title in the ICC Challenge in South Africa and also finished second in the one-day tournament there.
Meanwhile, the itinerary will see the Caribbean T20 being played from January 9 to 24, just prior to the start of the four-day first class championship that will run from February 1 to April 12.
West Indies will host two Test tours next year, with Pakistan arriving in April followed by India in June.
