IT has been announced through a road advertisement through the chairman of the No. 63 Beach management committee on October 23, 2010 that all local cattle owners who have their large herds of cattle (by the hundreds) roaming the beach will have to get them off the beach within a week or else they will be summoned to court for damaging it and for building cattle pens without legal consent or authority to do so. These cows have been: stampeding the beach, breaking private property owners fences, trampling the few sandbanks that are hardly left (breaking sea defence), eating the shrubs and vines on these banks resulting in massive erosion, polluting the air with cow manure and causing manifestation of diseases that can be hazardous to public health, spreading biting “Cow Flies”, being a noise nuisance to people frequenting the beach, an eyesore for tourists and also just disturbing the tranquility of the atmosphere by annoying visitors coming to No. 63 Beach by roaming around them while they engage in prayer, picnic, cricket, pedestrianism, driving or some other form of activity.
There is a particular person living at No.64 village who is an accountant by profession, a re-migrant and handles VISA by sending the small population of Guyana left overseas to Canada and America who is the “big culprit” of allowing his hundreds of heads of cattle to practically live on the beach. Since he is a re-migrant and lived overseas and travelled to many countries he should be aware that no country on this planet earth “rears cattle” on the beach because it is a way of killing the tourism industry.
Whenever I would speak to this man about the cattle on the beach, since I am a member of the 63 beach committee, he would ask me “Do you own the blasted beach?” and would doubt “Not my cows!” whereas he is the owners of these cattle that have the brand number on their sides LJ96. He has cursed me on many occasions by calling me a “whore” because I am telling him the truth about the cattle and the deteriorating effects they have caused on the beach and even these huge herds have been disturbing the resort owners on the beach by breaking their fence when the resort gates are closed and eating their beautiful plants and vegetables they have in their garden, also disturbing the tourists staying there with their loud “Moo’s” being a noise nuisance to guests during the entire night. Is it the resort owner’s duty to wake up from their beds in the middle of the night to chase this accountant’s cows while he is at home fast asleep? Do you think this is fair towards these middle aged re-migrants who invested their life savings in tourism and have to face these unbearable consequences? If these people wanted to get even with him, they would summon him to court and sue him as a penalty for causing destruction and damage towards their beautiful yard.
He shouts abusive words towards me and a few years back he was involved in a set up of getting a gang of ruffians to gang rape his ex-daughter in law on the beach causing disgrace and fright towards our prestigious beach. This man is up to no good since he bribed his way out of this horrific situation and young boys are scared to serve as “stray catchers” to take his cattle to the pound fearing the consequences of this dirty old man because he could set his people to kill or brutalize these boys and bribe his way out of the situation with the police.
I am not scared of him though. He cannot touch me nor put anyone to violate me because I have faith in Jesus and he is my guidance and I am covered with his pure blood. This accountant also owns a horse race track at No.66 village and has taken up government land to do so by surrounding the land with fencing to keep the horses in the race but also committing an illegal act by taking government reserve land away from the 66 village cemetery and soon the cemetery is going to be full. I want to know where people are going to be laid to rest soon. Sad to say some people are already being buried on other people, but that is not the main point.
The main issue is this man is seen as a “Bully” and since he took away the cemetery and government land at No.66 village, he plans to take away some of the beach land by using cow pen to claim the land since he knows a man that makes false documentation for people under a bribe and this accountant mentioned to me before that he owns “beach land” whereas he doesn’t and plans to build a house and wants to see who will stop him.
I am calling on Minister Clement Rohee to take serious action about this matter if this accountant of 64 village or others do not remove their cattle within the one week (7 days) notification. I will make it my duty to notify the minister of home affairs if this situation is not resolved and prevails.
I do hope these cattle owners who will not abide by the rule of law will be summoned by the sea defence unit as soon as possible in order to tackle this ongoing issue that the public has suffered from since about 2004. I have to see how long this game will be played with cattle on 63 beach and seek that justice will prevail about this intolerable situation with smart cattle owners.
