The Doppler Radar

The Hydromet Service, in collaboration with the National Communications Network (NCN), launched the   first “modernized” weather forecaster on May 13th 2009. The Doppler Weather Radar Monitoring Station, Weather Forecasting/Aviation Meteorology Section and Hydrometeorological Museum, which is located at Hyde Park Timehri were also commissioned on that day.
The National Weather Watch Centre provides Guyana with improved forecasting accuracies, strengthens early warning systems and, as such, alleviates and even prevents losses by droughts or floods from happening.
The National Ozone Action Unit (NOAU) within the Hydrometeorological Service monitors the local consumption of Ozone Depleting Substances (ODS) and coordinates training for the safe use of such substances.
