Arms cache accused on murder charge

TWENTY-FIVE-YEAR-OLD Timothy Sampson, who was remanded to prison on charges related to the recent arms cache find, including an Israeli made Uzi semi-automatic rifle, faced a murder charge before Magistrate Adela Nagamootoo, in the New Amsterdam Court, on Monday.
He was remanded until October 20 on the previous charges, following the September 21 discovery but, on his latest appearance, charged with the capital offence, he has to appear at Whim Court, Corentyne, also in Berbice, on October 18.
Sampson is accused of unlawfully killing Arjune Gobin, the 47-year-old security guard who was shot dead during a robbery at the home of businessman Surendra Ganesh, in Wellington Park, Corentyne, on May 17 last.
