FORTY-TWO-YEAR-OLD Suresh Pollard called ‘Babu’ and ‘Bynoe’ was last Monday night discovered dead in his bedroom under circumstances that seemed to suggest he took his life with ‘a sheet’.
Pollard, formerly of Lot 113 Duke Street, Kingston, and a father of three, all of whom are residing overseas, was found about 23:00 hrs Monday night.
According to reports, the deceased was not seen since last Saturday when he went into the upstairs apartment he shared with his wife.
After enduring an unbearable smell Monday, one of Pollard’s brothers decided to break into the apartment through a window that is located at the side of the house only to discover the deceased hanging from a white sheet against the wall.
Relatives at the home yesterday told this newspaper that Pollard’s body was swollen by the time it was found and that this is an indication that he was dead for quite some time.
A brother of the deceased, Mr. Rajesh Pollard, told the Chronicle yesterday that relatives were willing to remove items in the room that smelled but were forced to leave them untouched as police officers were expected to be back on the scene yesterday. The officers, however, did not show up, he said.
The wife of the deceased, Angela Pollard called ‘Reds’ was reportedly taken to the East La Penitence Police Station following the discovery of the body. However, reports are that she was subsequently released yesterday. Meanwhile, his children from overseas are expected in Guyana shortly.
A close family member remarked that everyone is in a state of shock and cannot believe that Pollard has died because he was always an easy-going individual.
Another relative claimed that Pollard was found with a photograph of his mother in his hand. Last Saturday has been one year since his father passed away, the relative said.
Meanwhile, certain comments made by those who gathered at the house indicated that Pollard might have had problems with his wife before he died.
Following a misunderstanding just before his death, the woman reportedly left home for a few days, as she would customarily do when problems arise in the marriage.
However, what was unusual about this time when she returned is the fact that she did so with police officers. Relatives are therefore baffled about her reason for so doing, questioning whether or not she knew of her husband’s plan to take his life.
The woman reportedly lived with Pollard for the past 15 years.
