Two men executed in a hail of bullets on Stone Avenue

Two men were last night riddled execution-style in a hail of gunfire discharged by occupants of a drive-by car at Stone Avenue, Campbellville. Dead are Patrick Goodluck, 35, of Campbellville Housing Scheme, and Godfrey Goodform, 29, of  131 Canterbury Walk, Beterverwagting, East Coast Demerara.
The shooting occurred around 20:00 hrs as the two were heading out of Royal Drive, Campbellville, on to Stone Avenue, in a black motor car driven by Goodluck.
Residents in the usually quiet neighbourhood  by the Redeemer Lutheran School said that around 20:00 hrs the silence was broken by loud gunfire which sent them all diving for cover.  Several rounds were discharged, badly disfiguring the victims.
Residents said the men were shot at as they were driving on to Stone Avenue, and the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to thrust forward across the road, and crash into a nearby drain.
Goodform , seated next to the driver, Goodluck, apparently flung open the door in a bid to escape, but a burst of gunfire sent his body sprawling on the grass. Unconfirmed reports said that Goodluck did not die immediately, but succumbed minutes later after the arrival of the police. He too, was badly shot up at.
After the gunfire subsided, residents rushed outside to enquire what had happened, only to discover the bodies of the two men. As the relatives and friends identified the corpses, agonizing wails filled the air, and women and children,   relatives of Goodluck, collapsed on the ground.
This newspaper learnt that Goodluck had just left the home of the mother of his children and he and his friend Goodform were heading for a birthday party.
Meanwhile at Beterverwagting, where Goodform resided with his relatives, the Todds of Canterbury Walk, they were shocked on being told of his death. His aunt, Shirley Fontanelle, could not believe that the young man she had seen earlier in the day had been killed.
After police had concluded their preliminary investigations, the bodies of the two men were taken away to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
