Renowned Artist Jorge Bowen Forbes has completed his entry for the American Watercolour Society (AWS) 144th, international competition and exhibition.
Forbe’s piece, titled STABROEK, continues a series of watercolours of fishermen and the tasks they perform in order to bring fresh food to the table. This version creates an atmosphere of day coming to an end, hence the dark abstraction of colours.
The artist is an elected signature member of the AWS; but due to the vast number of works submitted from around the world, for a gallery space of 130, all entries must pass a jury of selection with the primary purpose of exhibiting the very best.
Forbes said he is accustomed to this routine , as this is the very criterion exercised in his election to signature membership of the society.
An accomplished artist, Bowen Forbes is highly recognized in the art world. The International Biographical Centre in Cambridge England listed his accomplishments in Men of Achievement (1996), Decree of International Letters for Cultural Achievement (1997), World Who’s Who Hall of Fame (1998), The Twentieth Century Award for Achievement (1998), The Director Generals Honours List (1998), 2000 Outstanding Intellectuals of the 20th Century (1999),The Order of International Fellowship (1999); and from the United States Marquis of Who’s Who, he’s listed in Who’s Who in America (1996 to date), International Who’s Who of Twentieth Century Award for Achievement (1998-1999) and Great Minds of the 21st Century (1998). His international award list is lengthy, including three Gold Medals, a Silver and a Bronze, and some two hundred plus awards in regional, national and international competitions.
