THE Central Corentyne Chamber of Commerce (CCCC) wishes to commend the government for its handling and the resolution of the CLICO debacle. The Chamber applauds His Excellency President Bharrat Jagdeo for his hands on approach in the matter.
Thousands of Berbicians who are policy holders have been affected. Many have invested their lifesavings with CLICO. Many businesses have also been adversely affected.
The resolution of this matter is most welcome and any attempt to delay the payout must be condemned.
A number of policy holders were not issued with and are not in possession of their policies. This would need to be addressed. The Chamber also wishes to urge that systems be put in place for policy holders to be paid in Berbice.
