THANKS to the generosity of Giftland OfficeMax, the first ever Kashif and Shanghai (K&S)-organised first annual President’s Cup football showdown between Guyana’s Golden Jaguars and Trinidad and Tobago’s Soca Warriors billed for the Guyana National Stadium this Sunday will be a success.
At a simple presentation ceremony held in their Water Street office, Giftland’s marketing manager Compton Babb handed over the cheque for an undisclosed sum to director of K&S Aubrey ‘Shanghai Major.
In an invited comment, Babb said, “Giftland is always pleased to support sports in its entirety here in Guyana and partnering with the K&S organisation in this venture was not a difficult task for us, as we are aware of the duo’s ability and when we were approached to sponsor the matches on Sunday, we had no hesitation in doing so.
“This is the first of its kind here in Guyana and we at Giftland OfficeMax always wish to be a part of any history-making act that takes place in Guyana and we will continue to be with the K&S organisation and the President’s Cup matches in the future,” stated Babb.
In response to Babb’s comments, Major said businesses like Giftland make sports in Guyana such a success and he is eternally grateful for their timely contribution in helping to make the two matches this weekend a success.
Such contribution as this is what makes sports in Guyana such a success today and “we are calling on all Guyana who would be going to the national stadium this Sunday to wear their gold and support the Golden Jaguars,” said Major.
Admission to the venue to witness Guyana’s Under-20 and senior teams oppose T&T’s Under-20 and senior teams is $1 000 with children under 12 years of age being granted free admission.
Major also took the time to thank BK International, Bakewell, Banks DIH and Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GT&T), through their recently launched Emagine Internet Services, for their support of the inaugural President’s Cup matches.
