The Police said they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death which occurred after the fatal shooting about 23:50 h on, September 14.
The body of the deceased bore a single gunshot injury to the abdomen, Police reported.
Bakewell General Manager, Mr. Rajin Ganga told reporters he was informed that Caesar was seen removing a quantity of paint from the bakery compound, after being wounded, he managed to jump a fence and get to an alley a few yards away, where his corpse was discovered.
But he is awaiting a full report from the private security company contracted by Bakewell.
Ganga said the security guard retrieved several gallons of the stolen paint.
He disclosed that, for some time now, the business has been plagued by thefts of several batteries from the fleet of vehicles usually parked on the premises.
However, they will be bolstering security in light of the incident and have already purchased razor wire to be put on the fences surrounding the property.
Meanwhile, Caesar’s 70-year-old mother, Mrs. Joycelyn Jordan said yesterday that she last saw her son alive on Tuesday night, at a Police station where he was being held.
She said he has had several brushes with the law since he was a teenager and, under the influence of friends, he began smoking cannabis (marijuana) and turned to a life of crime.
Jordan said, up to last May, he was living with her but stole some things from the home and she reported him to the Police.
On Tuesday night, he was seen by a relative, who informed her of his presence in the area and she caused him to be arrested.
The mother of six said Caesar is the only one of her children who resided in Guyana and she was always trying to reform him but he was stubborn and, as such, his life ended tragically.
She said he was a known thief and the Police said he was caught stealing from Bakewell.
