IN its continuing efforts to give back to the community, Demerara Bank Limited made donations to several charitable organizations yesterday at its Head Office on Camp Street.
The items presented included a quantity of food/nutritional stuff, household utensils, school uniforms and school supplies, physiotherapy and computer equipment.
According to the Assistant Manager of Operations at the Bank, Ms. Padmini Ramotar, the various charitable groups were contacted to determine what was most needed.
“Special effort and thought was placed into the event,” Ms.Ramotar emphasized.
The institutions earmarked for donations included the Cheshire Home, the Gentlewomen’s Relief Association, David Rose School for Handicapped Children, Amerindian People’s Association for Santa Rosa Secondary School, the Guyana Society for the Blind and the Dharm Shala.
Alluding to the charities chosen, Ramotar pointed out that every effort was made to ensure that they were able to reach a wide cross section of society in need of assistance.
All of the representatives in attendance echoed their gratitude for the “timely” donations and extended their profound appreciation to the management and staff of Demerara Bank.
Representative from the Amerindian People’s Association, Ms.Jean La Rose, who accepted a quantity of uniforms and other school supplies, said, “As always, the students in the interior Regions need support; it will be appreciated by the parents and everyone else.”
