ON Friday August 13, 2010 Guyana Chronicle carried a letter captioned: “Large Scale Miners Monopolising Land.” One miner took the cap by the string and called me just to say that he is guilty of such acts. The miner who claims to have over 30 years in the field of mining behaved in one of the most insidious, provocative and insulting manner. The most obscene language was used against me for writing what I think was most appropriate. The same miner usually compliments me on several occasions for my writings in the dailies now sees my writing as against him and others who exploit the small miners.
I will continue to crusade for the small man since it is the small miners who always feel the bitter end of the stick. I have already lodged a complaint to the relevant agencies with responsibility for mining and have made it clear that this particular miner is out to victimise me at all costs.
I have already received several threatening messages trying to coerce me to stop my writings.
Long live sustainable mining.
Threatened by miner because of my writings
