PRESIDENTIAL Adviser on Youth Empowerment and founder of Alpha ‘The Hammer’ United Football Club, Odinga Lumumba, last Thursday retained the presidency of the club at its Annual General Meeting (AGM) which was held at the Water Chris Hotel.
Parliamentary Secretary within the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport Steve Ninvalle, who once served the club in the capacity of Public Relations Officer (PRO), has been elected to serve as vice-president to Lumumba.
Fiona Hamilton, Gavin Browne (who also executes the duties of assistant coach) and Colin Waithe have all retained their positions as Secretary, Treasurer and Assistant Secretary/Treasurer, while Olato Sam replaced Ninvalle as the national club champions’ PRO.
In his president’s report, Lumumba commended the players, coaches and executive members for their efforts in maintaining the club’s superb record over the past year.
He urged the players to set their sights on winning all remaining local tournaments and ultimately doing the same at the CONCACAF Club Championships. He stressed the importance of the club shifting its focus to being equally dominant regionally and internationally.
A number of new players have joined the team adding even more strength to the highly formidable Wayne ‘Wiggy’ Dover-trained Alpha United Football Club, who are also a force to be reckoned with on the local football scene as they have completely dominated their opponents in every competition to date.
The newly elected executives are: Odinga Lumumba (president), Steven Ninvalle (vice-president), Fiona Hamilton (secretary), Gavin Browne (treasurer), Colin Waithe (assistant secretary/treasurer) and Olato Sam (PRO).
