KEITH Nigel Parker, 39, of 113 Stewartville, West Coast Demerara, was Monday remanded to prison by Magistrate Hazel Octave-Hamilton after being allegedly found with 60 grammes of cocaine at his home.
Parker pleaded not guilty to the charge which said, on August 13, he had the illegal substance for the purpose of trafficking.
Police said Parker refused to open his door when the officers went there to carry out a raid and that this was not the first time that they had to raid the defendant’s premises.
Police officers were forced to kick open the door, and on doing so, they found him tucking away the narcotics on a ledge in his bathroom.
According to Police, Parker was attempting to wash away the substance in his bathroom, but attempted to hide it on the ledge after the officers entered by force.
Attorney-at-law Mr. Vic Puran appeared for Parker and told the court that his client was not the only one who occupied the house at the time that the substance was found.
However, Customs Anti Narcotics Unit (CANU) Prosecutor Oswald Massiah said the issue of occupancy will be dealt with at the trial.
Parker will remain in prison until Thursday when he is expected to make another court appearance at Leonora.
