Canadian Wheat Board here for seminars with bakers

A team from the Canadian Wheat Board (CWB) and the Canadian International Grains Institute (CIGI) is visiting Guyana to conduct a baking seminar and visit a few bakeries in an effort to enlighten local manufacturers. A press release from the National Milling Company of Guyana Inc. (NAMILCO) said the Company has been buying Canadian wheat for a number of years because of its high quality and because an excellent end product could be produced in the form of bread, pastries, noodles and other flour products.
The release said the goal of the bakery seminar is to assist bakeries in optimizing the quality of the baked goods they produce.
It said Canadian wheat is known for its excellent milling and baking quality and is widely used for the production of high-volume pan breads and many other bread products.
According to the release, the CWB values its relationship with Namilco and will take the opportunity to learn the specific quality requirements of the Guyanese bakers, to ensure the wheat provided to Namilco will best meet their needs now and in the future.
Bakers, noodles and pasta manufacturers will be able to interact with the team and to privately discuss any aspects of baking and manufacturing.
“Flour millers such as Namilco would like to meet the expectations of the bakers and at the same time, do so on a least cost basis,” it said.
The seminar is being held at Boodram’s bakery located at Enmore, East Coast Demerara, where a practical demonstration will be done. This location was chosen as it has the outdoor facilities to host the seminar while enabling the team to have practical demonstrations. Even if a large number of participants turns out, everyone will be able to witness the programme through a video link.
The visiting team comprises Ms Lisa Nemeth and Mr. Maximilian Bresslauer from the CWB; Mr. Larry Taylor and Ms Yvonne Supeene from CIGI; and Mr. Peter Harsveld from Namilco.
