Joe Singh a true professional and patriot

I have had the honour and privilege on one occasion to meet and talk with the great patriot and retiring GT&T Managing Director, Mr. Joe Singh, during the second General and Regional Elections while he was the Chairman of the Guyana Elections Commission. I was the PPP polling agent that accompanied the ballot box to Georgetown from the Essequibo Coast then. I was moved and deeply touched by the sincere way in which he expressed his beliefs, for transforming Guyana into a democratic state.
He experienced the pains and the sufferings that Guyana endured over a long period of time. In his military days he associated and worked with all ethnic groups to build a secured Guyana. He served as the Chief-of-Staff of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) and demonstrated high standards in his military career.
Mr. Joe Singh was admired and worked along with the champions of the GT&T after he retired from the Guyana Elections Commission. He believed that for costumers to have good and quality service from his company, he had to advance the interest of the costumer’s welfare.
It was no surprise when he won the confidence of the masses and his staff’s support. Unfortunately, he had to depart after serving the company well for years. He championed the rights for his staff by way of being an aggressive advocate in the company. He paid a lot of attention to statistics and the upgrading in order to achieve his targets. He made a lot of recommendations for the company at the advisory committee especially the new cable networks and the broad band systems which we are now enjoying on the Essequibo Coast, although it needs more speed and bandwidth here.
The point to note about all of his achievements is while the company was down at that time he gave pride to GT&T and his hard working staff.
All that I have said about him demonstrate the consistency of his performances over the years. He never departed from his conviction that everything must be done to advance the company and the interests of the ordinary men and women in Guyana. He also was firm in his belief that GT&T must be of high standards to fully realise the interest of the company.
I sincerely hope that the company that Mr. Joe Singh left would do everything possible to work with Mr. Yoga Manado and others to bring about genuine change for all Guyana.
