Husband remanded in John’s murder

KUMAR Singh, the alleged killer of his reputed wife, Yashwattie Samaroo, at John’s, Port Mourant, last Friday, appeared before Magistrate Tejnarine Ramroop, at Albion Court, Corentyne, yesterday.
The accused was remanded to prison and the case has been transferred to Whim Court, Corentyne, as well, for August 30.

The charge followed the fatal July 23 stabbing of the woman, 43, allegedly by her reputed husband, in the presence of their seven-year-old daughter, in a shop compound.

Samaroo was pronounced dead on arrival at New Amsterdam Hospital, also in Berbice.

Her husband’s Court appearance follows his discharge from Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH), where he was a patient after a failed suicide attempt.
